Job Description:

The Role
Reporting into the Financial Controller, this role will take ownership and provide support in the day-to-day operations of all key accounting functions for this dynamic and growing business, with a clearly defined path to Financial Controller. Responsible for monthly, quarterly and yearly reporting and period end Balance Sheet reconciliation; treasury processes; general finance support and ad-hoc projects as required.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Preparation of year end statutory accounts for the Australian entities.
  • Preparation of the company GST and the BAS returns for review by the Financial Controller and CFO prior to lodgement with the ATO.
  • Preparation of company income tax return and FBT return.
  • Liaison with external advisors including Tax Advisors and External Auditors to consult on complex accounting and tax matters.
  • General Ledger transaction processing, ensuring transactions are appropriately recorded by activity (e.g. FBT, GST, Employee expenses) and by cost centre.
  • Oversee month end close process; preparation of the monthly reconciliation of balance sheet G/L accounts and sub-ledgers.
  • Support the month-end closing for the inventory module, including analyses of COGS and inventory movements, and reconciliations to validate costings.
  • Assist with treasury activities including banking, cash flow and funding.
  • Maintenance of fixed asset registers.
  • Oversee implementation, reporting and operations of Transfer Pricing policies for services provided offshore, including oversight of customs & duties and GST treatment.
  • Prepare the monthly regional reporting package, monthly management report and consolidated accounts
  • Prepare the quarterly board reporting papers for the two Australian Companies.
  • Supervision and mentoring of an Accountant.
  • Undertake ad-hoc projects and analysis as required.
About You
To be successful in this role you will be CA/CPA qualified and ideally have started your career within a Big 4 or mid-tier chartered environment, with further experience gained in a 'hands on' Senior Accountant or Finance Manager position within industry. More specifically, you will have:
  • Strong knowledge of US and Australian GAAP, SOX reporting and compliance, Supply Chain Finance, Cost Accounting, and Management Reporting.
  • Inventory accounting experience - essential.
  • Excellent understanding of accounting principles – such as Revenue Recognition, Inventory/standard cost accounting, and accruals.
  • Strong problem solving skills, attention to detail, and results oriented.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • Passion for continuous improvement in accounting processes and controls, willing to challenge the ‘status quo' and embrace change as the company grows.
