The Company
Our client is a very stable, very successful business that can offer mentoring from an experienced CFO. This is a fast-paced role, where one day will be very different from the next. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with a broad accounting background to make a difference. The Business is a leading WA brand with a reputation for investing in the WA community. As a result of growth and development, the company is seeking an Assistant Financial Controller to lead this hospitality company's finance team. The role is broad and incorporates core technical accounting as well as management reporting, KPI analysis, project reporting and feasibility analysis combined with a significant level of process improvement.

The Role
In this role, you will be reporting to the CFO. Key responsibilities include the provision of high quality, informative, accurate, reliable and timely financial accounts and reporting as well as managing and mentoring a small team of junior accountants and transactional staff. Reporting to the CFO, this role will manage the financial operations of the Business to best industry practice, in line with legislative requirements and agreed business plans.

Essential duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Proactive financial analysis to help manage the Business by identifying trends, risks and opportunities and drive/track strategic initiatives as directed by the CFO and Resort Manager.
  • Accountable for daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting of the Resort operations.
  • Drive the financial planning analysis process for the Company - budget, forecast and strategic planning to achieve hurdle rates as assigned by the CFO.
  • Oversee the operations of all finance functions for the Company, including the design of robust process and controls implementation in Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll and Tax areas.
  • Coordinate all work and interaction with external/internal auditors for annual audit processes to the satisfaction of the CFO.
  • Comply with local, state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Manage financial systems and related policies and procedures for the Resort as directed by the CFO and the GM of Operations.
  • Assist the CFO with the interrogation and analysis of the financial operations of potential acquisitions or expansion projects.
You
To be succesful, you will have the following qualities, qualifications and experience:
  • Qualified Professional Accountant (CA/CPA/CIMA)or equivalent
  • Hospitality experience essential - candidates from aligned industries in mining accommodation and facilities management, healthcare and aged care would also be welcome to apply
  • Strong Microsoft Office experience and ability to quickly learn new systems with training.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and manage multiple deadlines whilst delivering accurate and quality work.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify opportunities.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and work both independently and co-operatively as required.
